# Move money

> Send payments externally or transfer funds between your Lemma accounts.

Lemma supports two ways to move money: sending to external bank accounts and transferring between your own Lemma accounts.

## Transfer within Lemma

Transfer funds between your own Lemma accounts or to other Lemma members. You can also transfer between separate entities on Lemma as long as you have access to both of them. Go to [Move money > Transfer within Lemma](https://app.getlemma.com/_/move-money/within-lemma).

Internal transfers are:

* **Instant** — funds arrive immediately
* **Free** — no fees
* **Available 24/7** — no business-hours restriction

Select the source and destination accounts, enter an amount, and confirm.

You can also [attach a document](/docs/guides/attachments) — an invoice or service agreement that explains what the transfer is for. When the transfer crosses two entities, the receiving entity sees the attachment too, so both sides hold the same record.

## Send externally

Send payments to bank accounts outside of Lemma. Go to [Move money > Send externally](https://app.getlemma.com/_/move-money/externally) and follow the three-step process:

    Enter the amount and choose a transfer method:

    | **ACH**                      | 1-3 business days | Free |
    | **Wire**                     | Same day          | \$15 |
    | **Real-time payment (RTP)**  | Instant           | Free |
    | **FedNow**                   | Instant           | Free |
    | **Check** (USPS First Class) | 5-7 business days | \$2  |
    | **Check** (FedEx Overnight)  | Next business day | \$25 |

      Fees may differ if your entity has a negotiated contract with Lemma. See the
      [pricing page](/docs/billing/pricing) for standard rates.

    <Note>All transfer methods are enabled on every Lemma account, but the recipient's bank may not accept some of them. Lemma checks the recipient's routing number and disables any method the bank does not accept.</Note>

  <Step title="Review and confirm">
    Review the transfer details and confirm. For wire transfers and check
    mailings, the fee is deducted from your account automatically.

You can [attach a document](/docs/guides/attachments) to an external payment for your own records. Unlike a document mailed with a check, it is never sent to the recipient.
