# Pay a credit card from Lemma

> Link your Lemma account to a credit card issuer so you can pay your card bill from Lemma.

You pay a credit card bill from Lemma by adding your Lemma account as a payment account in the card issuer's portal. The issuer then pulls each payment from Lemma. Most issuers, such as Amex and Capital One, link the account through Plaid.

## Link your Lemma account through Plaid

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the issuer's add-account flow">
    In your card issuer's portal, go to **Add a payment account**, **Link
    bank**, or the issuer's equivalent option.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Search for Lemma">
    When the Plaid bank picker appears, search for **Lemma** and select it. Do
    not search for Core Bank. Core Bank is Lemma's banking partner, but the
    issuer needs to link to Lemma directly.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in with your Lemma credentials">
    Log in with your Lemma email and password. Plaid requires a second login
    step for this kind of bank connection, so have your [verification
    code](/docs/entity-settings/security) ready.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the paying account">
    Pick the Lemma account your card payments should come from.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set up payments">
    Set up autopay or a one-time payment in the issuer's portal as usual.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Enter your account details manually

If your issuer doesn't offer Plaid, or the Plaid link fails, enter your Lemma routing number and account number instead. Most issuers support this option. Find both numbers at the top of the account's page on the [Accounts page](https://app.getlemma.com/_/accounts).

If the issuer asks for the account type, a Lemma account is a business checking account.

A manually entered account works the same way as a Plaid link once it's set up. Some issuers send small test deposits to verify the account first, which adds a day or two before you can make a payment.
