When payers mail EOBs to your Lemma lockbox, Lemma scans the mail, deposits any enclosed checks, and parses the EOBs. You don’t need to upload anything.

How it works

1

Payer mails the EOB

The insurance company sends an EOB, often with a check enclosed, to your lockbox address.
2

Lemma scans the mail

Lemma opens and scans every envelope and deposits any checks into your account. The scans appear in Lockboxes and Documents on the Physical Mailbox tab.
3

Lemma splits and parses it

Lemma separates each envelope into individual documents, such as EOBs, checks, and payer letters, and extracts the payer, claims, and amounts from every EOB.
4

The remittance is matched to its deposit

Each EOB appears as a remittance under Reconciliation. When the check came in the same envelope, Lemma matches the remittance to that check deposit automatically. When the payer sent a virtual card instead, Lemma charges the card for you.

Point your payers at your lockbox

No setup is needed on Lemma’s side. Any EOB that arrives at your lockbox is parsed automatically.
  1. Open Lockboxes and Documents on the Physical Mailbox tab and select Copy full address.
  2. Ask each insurance company to send remittances to that address.
  3. EOBs start appearing in Reconciliation as they arrive.
Payers can take a few weeks to update your address. In the meantime, upload EOBs yourself to start reconciling right away.
We add support for new payer EOB formats regularly. If a payer’s EOBs don’t parse cleanly, let us know and we’ll prioritize it.
