Your available balance and the posted balance are the same when there are no holds on your account, so Lemma shows a single number labeled Balance. When some money is set aside for a payment or waiting to become available, such as a recent check deposit, the label changes to Available balance and shows the lower, spendable amount. Lemma checks your available balance when you send money, not the posted balance. If a transfer is declined for insufficient funds even though your balance looks high enough, check whether any funds are on hold.

See what is held

Hover over beside your available balance to see your full posted balance and what’s on hold. Your posted balance keeps earning your deposit bonus while funds are held.
Tooltip beside the available balance listing the posted balance earning 1.75% APY. The tooltip explains the posted balance is different from the pending balance because there are 3 transfers being sent, 1 transfer waiting for approval, 4 card transactions authorized but not settled yet, and 1 deposit on hold

What reduces your available balance

Transfers being sent

Money is set aside immediately when you send a payment like an ACH. If you submitted the payment during a weekend, some transfers have to wait to be processed on a business day and you’d see a pending transfer on your account until the transfer settles.

Transfers waiting for approval

If an approval rule flags a transfer, the amount stays on hold until someone on your team approves the transfer, or you cancel the request.

Card authorizations

When you pay with a Lemma card, the merchant authorizes the payment immediately but the charge may take a few days to post. Some charges, like a hotel check-in, will place a hold that gets dropped when you check out of the hotel.

Check deposits

Check deposits always get a short hold. Holds are only released on business days.
